Tonica ranked 164th in state in lottery ticket sales for February 2016

The Village of Tonica had the 164th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- up 198 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Tonica was $29.41 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Illinois Valley Times, Tonica generated $21,704.50 in net sales from its one lottery retailer in February 2016, compared to $14,494 in February 2015.

The Village of Tonica is in LaSalle County, and has a population of 738, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $21,527.42.

Tonica's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #1402 located at 306 S 1st St, Tonica, IL 61370.

Caseys Gen Store #1402 generated 100 percent of Tonica's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of LaSalle County's sales that month, which was $1,915,940.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in LaSalle County in 2015 were Wenona, Peru, Grand Ridge, Streator and Ottawa.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
