Marseilles ranked 311th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The City of Marseilles had the 311th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- down 50 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Marseilles was $21.79 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Illinois Valley Times, Marseilles generated $108,155 in net sales from its five lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $125,561 in April 2015.

The City of Marseilles is in LaSalle County, and has a population of 4,963, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Seneca.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $20,915.04.

Marseilles' top lottery retailer is Mar-Shell Station located at 2922 E 24th Rd, Marseilles, IL 61341.

Mar-Shell Station generated 35 percent of Marseilles' April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of LaSalle County's sales that month, which was $1,882,354.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in LaSalle County in 2015 were Wenona, Peru, Grand Ridge, Streator and Ottawa.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
