The Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru will hold “Safety Around the Water” classes beginning in June, according to the organization's online program guide.
Registration for the classes starts May 1. The program is free to attend.
The classes are designed to show kids how to be safe in water and to support the swimming knowledge and lessons they have. Classes are for water acclimation, water movement and water stamina. The schedules for the classes are 6:15-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday from June 12-22 and July 10-20.
There will be a maximum of 10 participants per class.

The Illinois Valley YMCA is located at 300 Walnut Drive. Facility hours are 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
