Village of Tonica Board of Trustees met Feb. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board;

The regular meeting was called to order by President Kevin Sluder at 7:00 p.m., Monday February 20, 2017. Responding to roll call were Bob Steele, Mike Supan Jr., Heather Sherman, Dave Wiesbrock, Jessica Bonnell, Monica Kreiser, Bob Folty, Dennis Ford and Ron Sons. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Al Stremlau- Fire Chief- Annual Fire Department Report

 172 calls (a department record)

 17 fire, 24 accidents, 102 ambulance, 29 misc.

 New members are greatly needed.

 Ordinance #403 needs to be amended

Village Clerk Report - Heather Sherman

 La Salle County board minutes are available to board members who request them.

 The minutes of January’s meeting were presented and approved. A motion was made by Dennis Ford and 2nd by Dave Wiesbrock.

 First water billing was done on the new software. Treasurer Report - Jessica Bonnell

 Monthly bills were presented and approved to pay. A motion was made by Ron Sons and 2nd by Bob Folty.

 Al Stremlau discussed some financial investments for the village through Illini State Bank.

Police Report - Dave Woolford (absent)

 No Monthly Report

Water & Sewer/Streets & Alley Report - Marc Lemrise

 Two more loads of salt have been delivered.

 Three water leaks were detected by a professional leak detection company. While they were here they surveyed the entire town.

 All three leaks were fixed by Pohar & Sons in one day.

Engineer’s Report - Jack Kusek

 A motion was made by Monica Kreiser and 2nd by Ron Sons to pay a bill submitted by Vissering Construction in the amount of $222,993.88 and McClure Engineering in the amount of $22,805.02 for the new water treatment plant.

 Third St. is deteriorating and needs to be fixed. Options will be looked into to fix the road.

 An estimate to fix the water main by Birch St. will cost approx. $40,000.

 Around 110,000 gal of sludge needs to be removed from the old sewer treatment plant before March 13th to keep construction of the new treatment plant moving along. A motion was made by Dennis Ford and 2nd by Mike Supan Jr. to accept the lowest bid for sludge removal.

Attorney’s Report - Robert Steele

 Ordinance #595 Amending Ord 403. A motion was made by Monica Kreiser and 2nd by Dennis Ford. A copy of the ordinance is available at the village hall.

 A motion was made by Dennis Ford and 2nd by Mike Supan Jr. to allow a $2.50/hr raise for the police.

Trustees Comments & Complaints

 A motion was made by Mike Supan Jr. and 2nd by Monica Kreiser to put TIF money and excess funds in a sweep account at Illini State Bank.

 Rural Sidewalk Assessment Program-free of charge? Requirements?

 A whistle by 2nd St and Ash St. is washed out….put some big rocks in to stop erosion of the road?

A motion was made by Ron Sons and 2nd by Monica Kreiser to adjourn meeting at 9:25 p.m.
