Village of Wyanet Board of Trustees met April 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Village President, Bruce Hand, called the meeting to order at7:03 p.m. Following the pledge of allegiance roll call was answered by Hand, Bickett, Etheridge, Johnson, Law and Spears. Peterson was absent.

No guests were present to address the board.

Village Engineer, Jack Kusek, reported there has not been any word on the grant application. North Street had been recently televised. The results showed an accumulation of tree roots in one section. He will contact Superintendent Teske to discuss removing the roots. He suggested paving a section of South Walnut Street instead of oil and chipping it.

Chief Marquez gave the monthly activity report. There are several properties that need to be cleaned up. He will give out warnings to try and get something done about them. He suggested sending out a notice that ATV stickers expired January 1st and need to be renewed as soon as possible.

In the absence of Superintendent Teske, the maintenance report was given by the Village Clerk. They have been preparing for lawn mowing, cleaning the water plant and have had several more issues with the West End lift station. The board decided to send letters to all persons that tie into the West End and invite them to the next board meeting.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Etheridge to approve the consent agenda as presented. Motin passed unanimously by roll call vote. Peterson was absent.

Committee Reports:

Law & Order – Trustee Etheridge repeated the importance of getting unsightly yards cleaned up. Cemetery & Parks – Trustee Law will be getting pricing for repairing the wood on the bleachers at the ball diamond. The village is waiting for the insurance company to make a decision on the damaged headstone. The maintenance workers will trim more trees along Canal St. with the help of President Hand. The plaque in honor of John Gordon has been hung in the park concession stand over the fireplace. Streets & Sidewalks – the post master has discussed the uneven sidewalk in front of the post office with Trustee Peterson. They would like to know if the board would help pay for mud jacking the concrete. The consensus of the board was not get involved with jacking.

Old Business:

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Bickett to approve the renewal of Casey’s liquor license for 2018-19. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Peterson was absent.

The Village Clerk had been contacted by a representative from the fire department concerning the ESDA fund and if that money could be used for new radios. The county zoning officer will be contacted to see what the status of this money is. She will also, be asked about possible permits the village would need to tear down the old police station. To date the fire department has not applied for any permits to burn it down.

Trustee Spears showed concerned for the new parking stop that Casey’s has put on the South side of the propane tanks. His thoughts were that it could be a trip hazard.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Spears to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 p.m. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
