City of Ottawa Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met June 10.

MEETING MODIFICATION DUE TO COVID-19 Pursuant to Governor Priztker Executive Order 2020-07 and 2020-39 which suspends the requirement of the Illinois Open Meetings Act requiring in-person attendance by members of a public body during the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation. Members of the Board and City staff were in attendance at City Hall. However, pursuant to Governor's Executive Order No. 2020-38 and CDC guidelines, no more than 10 people will be allowed in Council Chambers at any one time. This meeting was available to the public via teleconference.

Minutes
Moved by Steve Malinsky to approve the minutes of the May 13, 2020 meeting as written. Ken Brown seconded. All ayes. Motion passed.
Public Comment
None.
Request to hire police patrolman
Moved by Steve Malinsky to release the applications of the next three applicants on the eligibility roster and authorize the Ottawa Police Department to proceed with background investigations. Ken Brown seconded. Motion carried.
Request to hire firefighters
Moved by David Manigold to release the applications of the next two candidates on the eligibility roster and authorize the Ottawa Police Department and the Ottawa Fire Department to proceed with background investigations. Ken Brown seconded. Motion carried.

New Business
Chief Borkowski reported that two firefighters will complete probation at the end of June. Chief Roalson also reported that two police patrolmen will complete their probationary periods at the end of June.

Ken Brown made a motion to enter executive session to discuss the employment of personnel at 11:20 A.M. Steve Malinsky seconded. Motion carried.

Request for police promotions
Ken Brown made a motion to promote Corporal Robert Nilles to Sergeant. Steve Malinsky seconded. Motion carried.
Ken Brown made a motion to promote Patrolman Matt Devries to Corporal. Steve Malinsky seconded. Motion carried.
