City of LaSalle Street, Alleys and Traffic Committee met Feb. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Bacidore called the Meeting to order at 6:06pm

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Bacidore, Aldermen Ptak, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson, Crane

Excused Absence: Alderman Herndon

Moved by Alderman Jeppson and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to allow Alderman Herndon to attend meeting remotely via phone call.

ROLL CALL

AYE: Chairman Bacidore, Aldermen Ptak, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson, Crane

NAY: None Absent: Alderman Herndon Abstain: None

MOTION CARRIED: 6-0

Present: Chairman Bacidore, Aldermen Ptak, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson, Herndon, Crane

Absent: NONE

Alderman Herndon joined the meeting remotely via phone call.

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, City Engineer Brian Brown, City Building Inspector Andy Bacidore, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, Director of Public Works Kevin Fay, City Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski

A quorum was present.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to approve and place on file the minutes of the Streets, Alleys and Traffic Committee for January 22, 2024.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Moved by Alderman Crane and seconded by Alderman Ptak to add an additional handicap parking space, per City Engineer’s recommendation, in the 1000 block of Tonti Street alongside St. Hyacinth Church. They currently have one going south from 11th Street. The east side parking of the church is currently angled parking. This would be one space north of the current handicap one.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Jeppson mentioned that he received an email about a concern with people driving too fast on 24th Street. He asked if a police radar could be present to possibly help slow down those speeding on 24th St. Alderman Crane mentioned that the city did once discuss increasing the speed limit on the west side of Chartres but nothing has come of it. The city of Peru currently has their portion of 24th St. marked 30 but LaSalle has never decided on a speed limit. Deputy Clerk Bader mentioned that he will refer this item to Mike Smudzinski when he sees him next.

There were no more questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Crane to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Bacidore adjourned the meeting at 6:12 p.m.
