A Regular Meeting Of The Oglesby City Council Was Held At City Hall. The Meeting Was Called To Order At 7:00 P.M.

Present: Commissioners Argubright, Cullinan, Curran, Lijewski, Mayor Rivara, Attorney Barry And City Clerk Eitutis

A Motion Was Made By Lijewski, Seconded By CURRAN to approve the regular meeting minutes from May 17, 2021. Ayes: Argubright. Cullinan, Curran, Lijewski, Rivara.

Public comments on agenda items only: none

A Motion Was Made By Argubright, Seconded By Lijewski to approve bills as presented for payment. Ayes: Argubright, Cullinan, Lijewski, Rivara. Abstain: Curran   Totals : $ 340,571.27

A Motion Was Made By Argubright, Seconded By Lijewski Approve 1163-060721 an ordinance providing for and approving seventh amendment to Oglesby TIF District I Redevelopment Project Are, Plan and Projects. Ayes: Argubright, Cullinan, Curran, Lijewski, Rivara.

A Motion Was Made By Argubright, Seconded By Lijewski to approve 1164-060721 an Ordinance approving and authorizing the execution of a redevelopment agreement between the City of Oglesby and Greg Boggio Oglesby TIF District I Ayes: Argubright, Cullinan, Curran, Lijewski, Rivara.

A Motion Was Made By Curran, Seconded By LIJEWSKI to approve bid for street repairs using motor fuel tax from lowest bidder, Advanced Asphalt in the amount of $223,370.10. Ayes: Argubright, Cullinan, Curran, Lijewski, Rivara. Commissioner Curran states the actual estimate came in lower than expected.

A Motion Was Made By Curran, Seconded By Lijewski to approve settlement of IBEW contract. Ayes: Curran, Lijewski, Rivara. Nays: Argubright    Abstan: Cullinan

Old Business: none

Public Comments: Drew Merriman questions the Council as to why the residents to not get a break for the sewer rate fees for use of water. Merriman states that in years past the Council would do so over the course of 3-4 months. Merriman states that the current Council has been spending money and should give the residents a break and that the water is going back in to the ground. Commissioner Curran asks how long ago this occurred?

Art Pavinato speaks about his interest in the Reisner building and the possibility of purchasing it. Commissioner Argubright and Mayor Rivara agree that a meeting amongst City officials and Mr. Pavinato should be held.

Commissioner Reports:

Argubright: none

Lijewski: police, fire and ambulance will hold a First Responder Community Night on July 31, 2021 from 3-6:00 p.m. Free swimming will also be offered. Commissioner thanks everyone who came out and supported the Ambulance Department’s pork chop dinner which was held on June 7, 2021 (earlier this evening). Ambulance department had 88 callouts, of which 22 were transfers. The Fire department had 18 call and 3 were water rescues. The Police Departments had 6 warrants, 7 citations and 103. traffic stops. Part-time officers worked 108 hours during the month of May. Commissioner Lijewski congratulates Officer Pellino for being the Officer of the Month. The police car was sold for $6555.00 from an out of state bidder.

Curran: Fiberoptic will be sending a memorandum of understanding to the City and Commissioner will share it with the City Attorney. The IMEA lighting program has had 4 businesses that are utilizing the program.

Cullinan: none

Mayor’s report: Reminds of Summer Fun Fest and city-wide garage sales. The Mayor encourages everyone to participate in the Festival and 50/50 drawing. A thank you letter was received from the Dickinson House for the City’s continued support. The Mayor addresses that the food pantry was vandalized again (gives information on what was seen on surveillance and asks it to stop). The city appreciates the generosity of those that donate and asks that no expired items be donated. Mr. Saunders has passed and states that Mr. Saunders daughter has contacted the city and indicates she wishes to sell the building. The City has had it inspected and is awaiting appraisal figures and hopes to sell it. Mayor Rivara state that there is intent to build a waste water treatment plant.
