State Rep. David Allen Welter (R-Morris) has announced that his office is hosting a blood drive in partnership with the Versiti Blood Center of Illinois.

The event will take place from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 at 1715 N. Division Street, Suite D in Morris. The event is located in the suite alongside Welter’s district office.

Due to safety concerns, all donations will be by appointment only and face masks will be mandatory. Appointments can be made at the Versiti Blood Center of Illinois website

“There continues to be a severe blood shortage in Illinois amidst the COVID-19 pandemic,” Welter told the Morris Herald-News. “To host this blood drive at this time, we are taking into account all the necessary safety precautions for volunteers, donors and staff. Our community has already come together in so many ways to help each other out. This is just one more way we can continue to do that, and in this case, we can help save lives.”

For more information, residents can also call Welter’s office at 815-416-1475.
