In an Aug. 10 Facebook post, Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) announced a mobile DMV unit will be set up Aug. 30 at the Robert Rowe Public Library, 120 E SI Johnson Ave., Sheridan, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The unit will provide driver’s licenses/state ID cards (renewal, replacement or correction), motor voter registration, license plate renewal stickers, and organ/tissue donor registration.
The post cautioned that seniors 75 and older must visit an SOS drivers services facility to renew their driver’s licenses. The unit will not provide Real ID’s.
A variety of licenses and permits have been extended through Dec. 1, 2022 by the Illinois Secretary of State. The extension applies to Illinois driver’s licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards with expiration dates between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 1, 2022. According to the Secretary of State’s website, commercial driver’s licenses and learner’s permits are not included in the extension.
Despite the General Assembly not being in session, Rezin has had a busy summer. Her Agriculture Advisory Committee met with Illinois Department of Agriculture director Jerry Castello at Stewart Farms in Yorkville in July, and in June, she introduced a panel at the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL).
