PRINCETON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: NJ RISE Youth Entrepreneurship Forum a Success
Princeton Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 14.
On May 30, 2018 at Hightstown High School, NJ RISE hosted their Youth Entrepreneurship Business Plan Forum where business-driven high school students were invited to learn from New Jersey business leaders and to strategize around the launch of their own business ideas.
The forum featured Dr. Randall Pinkett, a fellow Hightstown High School alum, who spoke with the students and delivered encouragement, knowledge, and powerful advice. Dr. Pinkett currently runs BCT Partners, a multi million-dollar consulting, research, technology, and analytics firm headquartered in Newark, NJ.
The event was a tremendous success with students absolutely star-struck as they arrived ready to learn more about starting a business and left ready to become entrepreneurs!
In addition to Dr. Pinkett’s involvement, local business leaders, Cristina Fowler of CC Fowlder, and Vince Davis from BCB Bank also met with the students to helpfully workshop the students’ business ideas.
Further, NJ RISE is working with these eager students by offering financial assistance to some who are ready to start working on their businesses now. NJ RISE Outreach Coordinator, Jack Curry:
“We think it’s a good idea to give you guys a shot, to start your own thing, taking that idea you have and making it a reality. We have the resources to be able to that. We have $500 dollars to give you to help you start your own business. The resources are there, the opportunity is there, to take the next step.”
Dr. Pinkett shared several sage words of encouragement to the students, most notably: “If there’s anything I need you to know, that I didn’t fully appreciate when I walked down the aisle to get my HHS diploma, is that the foundation of believing in myself had already been established in Hightstown High School. Know that you have everything you need to do anything you want to do right here in Hightstown High School.”
