City of Peru Committee of a Whole met Jan. 6.

A Committee Of A Whole meeting was called to order by City Clerk Dave Bartley in the Peru City Council Chambers at 6:34 p.m.
City Clerk Dave Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Ferrari, Waldorf, Lukosus, Radtke, Sapienza, Payton, Ballard and Buffo present; Mayor Harl present.
MINUTES
City Clerk Dave Bartley presented the Committee Of A Whole Minutes of December 9, 2019. Alderman Radtke made a motion that the minutes be received and placed on file. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion; motion carried.
PRESENTATION
Mr. Maurice Martin addressed the council regarding his native American heritage and denial of job opportunities.

• Called the police
• Asserted that staffing agency made a false reports to the police
• Staffing agency is out of date with their policies
Mr. Maurice stated he is having a hard time taking care of himself and is asking for consideration and doesn’t want any trouble.
OPEN COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
City Engineer Eric Carls provided an update on a meeting held tonight regarding the next of sewer separation (Area 1 Phase 5; general boundary of 4th-7th Streets and Rock to West Streets) tying into the Rock Street lift station and eliminating. City
Engineer Eric Carls stated his department will be asking residents for easements to access and update existing sewer line.
City Engineer Eric Carls reported the 7th Street Water Main has been permitted and hoping to extend beyond Pulaski Street to West Street depending on bid figures.
City Engineer Eric Carls reported the 6th Street Water Main project design and permitting is underway. City Engineer Eric Carls stated they will try to harvest bricks from this project for 2nd Street.
Mayor Harl addressed the council regarding the passing of Ken Bernabei as it applies to the airport farming. Eric Carls was contacted by Hertz Farm Management and there is a plan in place for 2020.
ADJOURNMENT
Alderman Ferrari made a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion and motion carried.
