City of Ottawa issued the following announcement on April 3.
This closure incudes Allen (excluding the boat launch), Eastside, Fox River (excluding the boat launch), Hollywood Park, Kiwanis, Lincoln Douglas, Peck, Rigden, Skate, Thornton, Turnberry, Varland, Walsh, Washington Square, and the I & M canal path within City of Ottawa.
At this time the only activity permitted will be the launching of watercrafts into the Illinois and Fox River using public boat launches at these locations
1) Allen Park
2) Fox River Park
• Only watercraft launching is allowed. No fishing from the bank or boat launch/dock is allowed.
Currently the Illinois and Fox River has not been closed for recreational use however, this may change.
All Public Restrooms are closed.
Though cooperative compliance is preferred, the police will enforce the closures if necessary.
Police enforcement may include the issuance of an ordinance violation which carries a fine up to $750.00 or a criminal charge for Reckless Conduct.
Please keep in mind this is to reduce and limit the exposure/spreading of the COVID 19 virus.
