Village of Seneca Village Council met March 12

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1.) CALL TO ORDER

Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Olson at 4:00 PM.

2.) ROLL CALL

Also Present: Village Clerk Jessica Harvey, Treasurer Jessica Kempiak, Police Chief Jeff Wold, and Village Attorney Bryan Wellner. All were physically present at the meeting.

3.) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

4.) NEW BUSINESS

A. Consideration of extending the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District or allowing it to expire.

Council reviewed the pros and cons of extending the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District or allowing it to expire. There was a unanimous consensus to move forward with efforts to extend it for an additional ten years.

Council would like to schedule an open house to discuss with the other taxing bodies the benefits of extending with a formal letter of support to be mailed to each.

5.) PUBLIC COMMENT – None.

6.) EXECUTIVE SESSION

5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1)

The appointment, employment compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, or legal counsel for the public body.

AND

5 ILCS 120/2.06(d)

Semi-annual review of executive session minutes.

Moved by Commissioner Weber, seconded by Commissioner Mann that the council enter into executive session at 4:13 PM.

Ayes: Higgins, Mann, Peddicord, Weber, Olson

Nays: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None

Motion carried.

The Village Council requested members of the public and all unnecessary staff to please vacate the council chambers for them to proceed in executive session. Council chamber doors were closed.

The Council Chamber doors were opened.

VILLAGE COUNCIL RETURNS TO REGULAR SESSION

Moved by Commissioner Higgins, seconded by Commissioner Weber that the council returns to regular session at 5:09 PM.

Ayes: Higgins, Mann, Peddicord, Weber, Olson

Nays: None

Abstain: None

Absent: None
