La Salle City Council OKs TIF pact between city, state, District 185

At a special meeting recently, the La Salle City Council approved an ordinance to establish a tax increment financing (TIF) district through an intergovernmental agreement between the city, the state and Waltham Community Consolidated School District No. 185.

The La Salle City Council includes the mayor and eight council members — two each from the city’s four wards. Regular meetings are held at 7 p.m. every other Tuesday in city council chambers, 745 Second St.

"The City of LaSalle is located in LaSalle County, Illinois, at the intersection of Interstate 80 and Interstate 39. It is part of the Ottawa–Streator Micropolitan Statistical Area. Originally platted in 1837 over one square mile, the city has grown to 12 square miles (31 km2). "

6:00 P.M., Monday, May 16, 2016

CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Alderman James Demes.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

ROLL CALL

Present- Alderman Demes, Bacidore, Reynolds, Lavieri, Duncan, Herndon, Schneider

Excused Absent- Mayor Grove, Alderman Ptak

Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Duncan to appoint Alderman James Demes as Mayor Pro-Tem in the absence of Mayor Grove.

ROLL CALL: AYE: Alderman Demes, Bacidore, Reynolds, Lavieri, Duncan, Herndon, Schneider

NAY: None Absent: Alderman Ptak, Abstain: None

Motion carried 7-0

City Clerk Brown read the call stating that the purpose of the Special Meeting was for discussion and potential action on Ordinance Approving and Authorizing Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District 1 First Amendment to an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City of La Salle, Illinois and Waltham Community Consolidated School District #185 and related matters.

Moved by Alderman and seconded by Alderman to accept the call. Each and every alderman has a copy.

ROLL CALL: AYE: Alderman Demes, Bacidore, Reynolds, Lavieri, Duncan, Herndon, Schneider

NAY: None Absent: Alderman Ptak, Abstain: None

Motion carried 7-0

Attorney McPhedran briefly explained the extension and stated that both parties are in agreement on the details of the extension.

Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Schneider to approve Ordinance 2636: an Ordinance Approving and Authorizing Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District 1 First Amendment to an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City of La Salle, Illinois and Waltham Community Consolidated School District #185. Each and every alderman has a copy.

ROLL CALL: AYE: Alderman Demes, Bacidore, Reynolds, Lavieri, Duncan, Herndon, Schneider

NAY: None. Absent: Alderman Ptak Abstain: None

Motion carried 7-0

Ordinance 2636-an ordinance Approving and Authorizing Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District 1 First Amendment to an Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City of La Salle, Illinois and Waltham Community Consolidated School District #185.

COMMENTS

No members of the press or public were present. No additional comments were made.

ADJOURNMENT

Moved by Alderman Duncan and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion is carried.
