La Salle City Council approves TIF agreement with county, state

At a recent meeting, the La Salle City Council approved an ordinance to enter into a tax-increment financing (TIF) District Redevelopment Agreement between the city, La Salle County, the state, GHG Holding LLC and the La Salle Downtown Tax Increment Financing District.

The La Salle City Council includes the mayor and eight council members — two each from the city’s four wards. Regular meetings are held at 7 p.m. every other Tuesday in city council chambers, 745 Second St.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Alderman Demes and seconded by Alderman Reynolds that the minutes of the regular City Council meeting held on Monday, April 25, 2016 are accepted and placed on file. Each and every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

PETITIONS

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to grant the request of Justin Hicks of the LP Band Parent Association to hold a Tag Day collection at the intersection of 11th and Bucklin on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. following all established guidelines. Each and every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

Moved by Alderman Herndon and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to grant the request of Machelle Seneca on behalf of Dawn’s Apostle Creed Relay for Life Team and the North Central Illinois Artworks

group for 2016 Raffle licenses. Each and every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

Moved by Alderman Duncan and seconded by Alderman Ptak to grant the request of Ameren Illinois to break ground at 503 3rd Street to replace a pole, 860 8th Street to install new pole and 1053 8th and 236

Gooding Streets to retire gas service. Each and every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

REPORT S OF CITY OFFICERS

Moved by Alderman Ptak and seconded by Alderman Lavieri to accept and place on file the Treasurer’s Report for March 2016 showing cash balances in the La Salle State Bank of $6,540, 481.28 and in

Hometown National Bank of $90,688.43. Each and every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

City Clerk Brown read the high bids for City vehicles received at the bid opening on Friday, May 6.

Moved by Alderman Schneider and seconded by Alderman Herndon to accept the high bids for City Vehicles as read.

There were no comments from the public. City Engineer Brown gave an update on the Rotary Park improvements.

Alderman Reynolds reminded the public to buy their 50/50 Tickets as the drawing will be during Celebrate

La Salle in June.
