Marseilles City Council OKs new home-business licenses

At a recent meeting, the Marseilles City Council approved home-business licenses for an interior decorator and a lawn-care business.

Marseilles is ruled by a commission form of government. The City Council consists of the mayor and four commissioners.

Below are the minutes from this meeting, as provided by the council.

Official proceedings of the City Council of the City of Marseilles of the meeting of February 17, 2016.

The City Council of the City of Marseilles met in the City Chamber of City Hall at the hour of 6:00 P.M. on February 20, 2016.

Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Trager, Commissioner Hollenbeck, Commissioner Lewey, and Commissioner Buckingham. Absent: Commissioner Davis.

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Lewey that the minutes from the Council meeting of February 3, 2016 be approved as displayed and placed on file. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Davis, Buckingham, and Mayor Trager. Nays: None

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Buckingham that the accounts payable for the first half of February in the amount of $325,885.21 be approved and a warrant be drawn on the City Treasury for the said amount. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham and Mayor Trager. Nays: None

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Lewey that the payroll for the first half of February in the amount of $59,052.69 be approved and a warrant be drawn on the City Treasury for said amount. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham and Mayor Trager. Nays: None

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Buckingham that the monthly department reports for January be approved and placed on file. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham and Mayor Trager. Nays: None

Moved by Commissioner Buckingham seconded by Commissioner Hollenbeck that the final payment to Amcoat Painting in the amount of $46,010.50 paid out of TIF 2 be approved. This payment is for the South water tower painting. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham and Mayor Trager. Nays: None

Moved by Commissioner Buckingham seconded by Commissioner Lewey that the final payment to Greenfield for the salt shed in the amount of $21,325.00 be approved. The City is withholding $500 until the corner of the building is repaired in the spring. Ayes: Commissioners Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham, Mayor Trager. Nays: None

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Buckingham that the TIF 3 agreement payment surplus to LaSalle County in the amount of $162,102.84 and payment to Dan Murphy in the amount of $16,243.74 be approved. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham, Mayor Trager. Nays: None.

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Lewey that the home business license for Deanna Przybyla DBA T&L Decorators be approved. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham, Mayor Trager. Nays: None.

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Buckingham that the home business license for Todd McCoy DBA McCoy Lawn Service be approved. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham, Mayor Trager. Nays: None.

Moved by Commissioner Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Lewey that Resolution 2016-4, a resolution approving bid for purchase of surplus real estate and authorized Mayor and Clerk to execute deed be adopted. Ronald and Julie Baudino won the bid for 1013 Catalpa Street $2,700. Ayes: Commissioner Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham, Mayor Trager. Nays: None.

Mayor Trager thanked the Marseilles fire department for their prompt response to the fire on Main Street last week. City Engineer Mike Etscheid told the council the Pacific Street well house has been sealed up.

Moved by Commissioner Buckingham seconded by Commissioner Lewey that the City Council adjourns. Ayes: Commissioners Hollenbeck, Lewey, Buckingham, Mayor Trager. Nays: None
