Sandwich Committee of Whole discusses whether live chickens belong in city

At a recent meeting, the Sandwich Committee of the Whole discussed a proposal to allow city residents to raise chickens.

Motion to appoint Mayor Pro Tem for the meeting of June 20, 2016

Mayor Pro Tem in the absence of Mayor Olson:

(1) Backyard chicken discussion. Council will vote on Monday, June 27th, if backyard chickens will be allowed within the corporate boundaries of the City.

(2) Yoga Day Proclamation. International Yoga Day will be held on June 24-25 at Timber Creek.

(1) Plan Commission recommendation of approval of a special use for a recycling center to include E-scrap of the subject property located at 1212 E. 6th Street in accordance with §2-2-2 C. 8.a. of the City’s zoning ordinance and the provisions governing such recycling center including E-scrap as set forth in the Municipal Code of Sandwich, Illinois by a vote of 6-0 at the June 13, 2016 regular meeting. Ordinance 2016-06 entitled “An Ordinance Granting a Special Use in the M-2 General

Manufacturing District Permitting the Operation of a Recycling Center to Include E-Scrap for Property located at 1212 E. 6th Street” presented for 1st reading.

(2) Plan Commission recommendation of approval of text amendments to the Revised Sandwich Zoning Ordinance concerning body art establishments/tattoo parlors by a vote of 6-0 at the June 13, 2016 regular meeting. Ordinance 2016-07 entitled “An Ordinance Granting a Zoning Text Amendment to Modify Permissible Zoning Districts for Tattoo Parlors / Body Art Establishments” presented for 1st reading.

(3) Application for NPDES Permit IL0030970 that is due prior to July 4, 2016 was mailed on June 17, 2016.

(4) Brush Pickup: Ward 3

(5) “750,000 Gallon Spheroid, Exterior Overcoat, Wet Interior Repaint, Dry Interior Partial Repaint, and Miscellaneous Repairs” (2016 Water Tower Painting) Project bid opening occurs at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at City Hall.

(6) Discussion of B.U.I.L.D. Incentive Program (Resolution 15-03).

(7) Discussion of Hall Street Lofts request for reduction of building permit fees.
