At a recent meeting, the Ottawa Fire and Police Commissioners Board rescheduled entry-level firefighting testing amid a pending SAFER Staffing grant application.
The rule-making authority of the board of fire and police commissioners of the city shall include the power to make rules pertaining to testing firefighter and police applicants and testing those in these departments who are seeking promotions, as well as handling discipline issues with police or firefighters.

David Manigold called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon.
Public Comment
None.
Moved by Ken Brown, second by Cliff Espevik, that the minutes of the April 13, 2016 meeting be
approved as written. All ayes. Motion passed.
Correspondence
None.
New Business
Commissioner Ganiere requested that the Board reschedule the firefighter entry level testing
earlier, due to the City’s pending application for a SAFER staffing grant. If this grant is
awarded, it is time restrictive to complete the hiring.
Moved by Ken Brown, second by Cliff Espevik to reschedule the firefighter entry level testing
to Wednesday, June 22, 201 at City Hall; orientation will be at 6:00 p.m. with the written
testing immediately following.
Old Business
Rules and Regulations; Kim will review and email draft language to the Board for review.
Moved by Cliff Espevik, second by Ken Brown to adjourn the meeting at 12:20 p.m.
