LaSalle City Council considers annexation proposal

At a recent meeting, the LaSalle City Council considered an annexation proposal between the city and Old Dominion Freight Line Inc.

The LaSalle City Council includes the mayor and eight council members — two each from the city’s four wards. Regular meetings are held at 7 p.m. every other Tuesday in city council chambers, 745 Second St.

Minutes of the Regular Council meeting held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.

Request from Pastor Cameron Graper of the Ax Church to address the council

regarding Hope Week 2016.

Request from Araceli Lopez resident of 125 Tonti Street for two “Children at Play” signs,

one on Tonti Street and one in the alley near her residence and related matters.

Request for permission from Robert Steele on behalf of the Starved Rock Runners Club

to utilize city streets from LP High School to the I-M Canal Towpath and the Police

Department for traffic control in order to conduct its annual Canal Connection 10K Road

Race on Sunday, November 6, 2016 beginning at 10:30 a.m. and related matters.

Request for two 4’ x 8’ wooden banner signs for Doug’s Automotive located at 362

Third Street and related matters.

Building Inspector’s Report for June 2016 showing total fees collected of $1,146 and

total value of construction of $86,170.

COMMUNICATIONS

Illinois Department of Revenue Report showing sales tax collected for April 2016 of

$91,121.56 and referendum approved sales tax of $33,271.06 for a total of

$124,392.62.

BIDS

Discussion and potential action regarding bids received for the demolition of 615-625

Sixth Street and related matters.

Awarding of bid for 2016 Sidewalk Program and related matters.

Awarding of bid for 2016 Non-MFT Road Program, Murphy Drive Road Project and

related matters.

STANDING COMMITTEES

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

Recommendation of the Planning Commission regarding petition for rezoning to M-1 for

premises located 761 E. Route 6, La Salle, Illinois and related matters.

OLD BUSINESS

Confirmation and action on Straw Poll taken regarding the request from the La Salle

Peru Township High School Color Guard for a Tag Day collection on Saturday, July 18,

2016 at the intersection of 11th and Bucklin and at area businesses.
