The Oglesby City Council met July 5 to award the 2016 Summer Street Program to Advanced Asphalt.

A MEETING OF THE OGLESBY CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD ON TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2016, AT CITY HALL. THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M.

PRESENT: COMMISSIONERS CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, MAYOR FINLEY, ATTORNEY JAMES ANDREONI AND ASSISTANT CITY CLERK TERRY KAMNIKAR.

ABSENT: COMMISSIONER PORTER

A MOTION WAS MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY CAREY TO APPROVE THE MEETING MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 20, 2016 REGULAR MEETING. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

The Mayor opened the floor for comments on the agenda items. No comments.

A MOTION MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY CAREY to adopt Ordinance No. 928-070516, an ordinance pertaining to Residential Rental Property Nuisance Prevention. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

A MOTION MADE BY YBORRA, SECONDED BY CAREY to award the 2016 Summer Street Program to low bidder Advanced Asphalt in the amount of $125,994.81. This street program includes roadway improvements to Portland Avenue and sections of First Street from Kenosha Avenue to Columbia Avenue. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

A MOTION MADE BY RIVARA, SECONDED BY CAREY to place on file Ordinance No. 930-071816, the Appropriation Ordinance for fiscal year 2017. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

A MOTION MADE BY CAREY, SECONDED BY RIVARA to grant permission to the ILVY Dolphins Swim Team on August 25, 2016 from 8-Noon at the corners of Walnut Street and Columbia Avenue. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

A MOTION MADE BY YBORRA, SECONDED BY CAREY to grant permission to the LP Band to solicit door to door for their annual candy sales on September 8, 2016. AYES: CAREY, RIVARA, YBORRA, FINLEY. MOTION CARRIED.

Due to lack of a motion, permission wasn’t not granted for a solicitor’s permit to Marcus Irvin of IV Construction.

Mayor opened the floor for public comments on any topic.

Richard Vicich voiced his concerns about vehicles parking on both sides of the street for First Street, Second Street and Third Street during the parade on July 10, 2016. Mr. Vicich stated it would be very difficult or near impossible to get an emergency vehicle down one of those streets with vehicles parked on both sides. Mr. Vicich requested temporary no parking signs be placed on those streets. Chief Knoblauch stated that he would contact Fire Chief Ron Popurella and Commissioner Porter.

Commissioner and Mayor Reports:

Commissioner Yborra wished everyone to be safe and have fun at Oglesby’s Summer Fun Fest.

Mayor Finley repeated Commissioner Yborra’s sentiment about Summer Fun Fest and reported that the 50/50 Jackpot was nearing $15,000.
