The Illinois River Valley Soccer Association in Seneca is seeking volunteers, according to an Aug. 6 post on the group's Facebook page.
Volunteer activities suggested in the post include recruiting parents to help with the team's snacks, helping to paint the fields each week, setting up fields on Saturday mornings, or assisting at practices. Volunteers do not need to be able to do activities regularly to help out. To volunteer, talk to a team coach or contact the group through its Facebook page, facebook.com/senecayouthsoccer.
The U6 games for the fall season begin Saturday, Aug. 20, at the fields by the Seneca Grade School (SGS) South Campus. Teams should meet at 9 a.m. for a 30-minute practice session. A 30-minute game consisting of about four five-minute quarters will follow the practice session. The second week of U8 games also will take place on Aug. 20 at the South Campus. Games begin at either 10:15 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. The first week of games was scheduled for Saturday.
