Illinois Valley Community College men's golf-team member Carter Piercy qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament with his performance at the Region IV Tournament this fall.
According to www.ivcc.edu, Piercy won a sudden-death playoff with teammate Conner Soenksen for the national-meet berth. Piercy and Soenksen each had a score of 236 over 54 holes in regulation play. Soenksen qualified to be an alternate for the national meet, which will be held in May 23-26 in Mesa, Arizona.
As a team, the Eagles finished sixth out of eight National Junior College Athletic Association Division II teams at the Region IV meet, with a score of 971. Black Hawk College finished first, with a score of 907, with Waubonsee College second at 933.
Individually for IVCC, Joey Dudek shot a 253, Marv Pflibsen shot a 254 and Bobby Morse shot a 264.
