The city of Ottawa Special Events Committee met Sept. 15 to review the finance report.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the committee:

"The Special Events Committee will assist with the organization and coordination of special events in the community throughout the year and work in conjunction with the Ottawa Visitors Center to promote those events."

SPECIAL EVENTS

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 15, 2016

Present: Peggy Schneider, Michael Dougherty, Joyce Kellogg, Don Gillette, Jim Reilly

and Nancy Stisser.

Absent: Phyllis Revell, Wayne Eichelkraut, Jani Eichelkraut, and Michael Dougherty.

Guest/Prospective member: Candy Moore.

There being no quorum of members, the meeting continued with discussion only.

Nancy noted she had requested an invoice from the couple that provided sound for the Gospel Night concert, in order to provide reimbursement for their effort, but had not received a reply from them.

Financial Report: In reviewing the report, members had many questions about just how much money is controlled by, allotted to, and allocated by SEC. Other expenditures by the city are included under the SEC umbrella, and it can be difficult in a brief monthly review for members to understand how much it has left to spend. It was concluded that the committee, as of September, has $4,978 unallocated.

Old Business:

Music in the Park surveys: Surveys were returned and will be considered in planning the band lineup for 2017.

New business:

Music in the Park lighting: Joyce requested that the park timer for lighting reflect earlier darkness as the season wears on.

Adjournment

The next meeting will be October 20.

Respectfully submitted by Peggy Schneider.
