Sheridan ranked 291th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The Village of Sheridan had the 291th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 76 spots from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Sheridan was $22.52 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Illinois Valley Times, Sheridan generated $61,773 in net sales from its three lottery retailers in April 2016, compared to $57,080.50 in April 2015.

The Village of Sheridan is in LaSalle County, and has a population of 2,743, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $20,915.04.

Sheridan's top lottery retailer is Sheridan Tobacco & Spirits located at 207 W Si Johnson Ave, Sheridan, IL 60551.

Sheridan Tobacco & Spirits generated 36 percent of Sheridan's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of LaSalle County's sales that month, which was $1,882,354.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in LaSalle County in 2015 were Wenona, Peru, Grand Ridge, Streator and Ottawa.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
