Mendota ranked 277th in state in lottery ticket sales for June 2016

The City of Mendota had the 277th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of June 2016 -- up 66 spots from its May ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Mendota was $23.58 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Illinois Valley Times, Mendota generated $169,888 in net sales from its nine lottery retailers in June 2016, compared to $170,854.50 in June 2015.

The City of Mendota is in LaSalle County, and has a population of 7,204, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in June 2016 was $21,674.56.

Mendota's top lottery retailer is Beck's #25 located at 1301 13th Ave, Mendota, IL 61342.

Beck's #25 generated 22 percent of Mendota's June 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of LaSalle County's sales that month, which was $1,972,385.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in LaSalle County in 2015 were Wenona, Peru, Grand Ridge, Streator and Ottawa.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
