Ottawa City Council approves collection bargaining agreement with firefighters

Ottawa City Council met Tuesday, March 14.

The Ottawa City Council includes the mayor, the city clerk and four commissioners. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at city hall, 301 W. Madison St.

Here are the minutes as provided by Ottawa:

Special meeting of the Council of the City of Ottawa, Illinois.

Present: Daniel E. Aussem, Thomas G. Ganiere, James J. Less, and Robert M. Eschbach

Absent: Wayne A. Eichelkraut Jr.

Commissioner Aussem presented Resolution.

Moved by Commissioner Aussem that a Resolution authorizing the approval and acceptance of a proposal for engineering construction services between the City of Ottawa and Renwick & Associates Inc., regarding the elimination of lift stations at James Court and Dairy Lane, which has been on file for public inspection since March 7, 2017, be adopted.

Second by Ganiere.

Ayes: Aussem, Ganiere, Less, and Mayor Eschbach.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

Commissioner Aussem noted that letters will be going out on the FOG program and Naplate will also be receiving a formal letter.

Commissioner Less presented Quote.

Moved by Commissioner Less that the Quote received from Homer Industries LLC in the amount of $34,500.00 to remove the piles of debris at Allen Park, be approved and the formal bidding process be waived due to this emergency situation.

Second by Aussem.

Ayes: Aussem, Ganiere, Less, and Mayor Eschbach.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

Commissioner Less added that the piles should be gone in 3 business days. Mayor Eschbach presented Report of Plan Commission.

Moved by Mayor Eschbach that the Report of the Plan Commission meeting held on Monday, March 6, 2017, considering the conditional use permit for a planned unit development and approving the Final Plat of the Villas of Heron’s Landing, be received and placed on file. Be it further moved, the Council concur with the recommendation of the Plan Commission and the conditional use permit and Final Plat both be approved and the follow up Ordinance, be passed and approved.

Second by Ganiere.

Ayes: Aussem, Ganiere, Less, and Mayor Eschbach.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

Mayor Eschbach presented Resolution.

Moved by Mayor Eschbach that a Resolution authorizing the approval of a collective bargaining agreement between the City of Ottawa and the International Association of Firefighters Local 523, which has been on file for public inspection since March 7, 2017, be adopted.

Second by Aussem.

Ayes: Aussem, Ganiere, Less, and Mayor Eschbach.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

Mayor Eschbach presented motion to adjourn.

Moved by Mayor Eschbach that this special meeting be adjourned.

Second by Aussem.

Ayes: Aussem, Ganiere, Less, and Mayor Eschbach.

Nays: None. Motion carried. Council adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
