Here is the agenda as provided by the Board:

CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the Board of Education of Peru Elementary School District 124, LaSalle County, Illinois, was called to order in the Library at Parkside School, 1800 Church Street, Peru, IL, by Board President Jim Renk, on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE President Renk led the Board and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

ROLL CALL PRESENT: Members Rob Ankiewicz, Cindy Gustat, Simon Kampwerth, C.G. Pillai, Vice President Mark Lamboley and President Jim Renk. ABSENT: Jeff Sheppard. 

APPROVAL OF SPECIAL MEETING AGENDA MOTION: Moved by, seconded by, to approve the special meeting agenda of March 30, 2017. ROLL CALL, VOTING AYE: . ABSENT: Sheppard. NAYS: None. The motion carried 6-0

PUBLIC COMMENT, CORRESPONDENCE, AND ANNOUNCEMENTS There were no public comments, correspondence, or announcements. 

BOARD STRATEGIC PLANNING WORK SESSION Mr. Cross opened the work session by reviewing what the Board discussed during the previous strategic planning session, as well as the results of the parent and graduate surveys. Board members spent time reviewing and results of the surveys in depth. This led to much discussion about the trends and patterns that were found in those results. This led a focus on several key themes and areas, including: communication, parental engagement, community engagement, academics, class sizes, curriculum clarity, vertical and horizontal articulation, finances, safety and facilities and clarifying the district’s mission. Mr. Cross will develop a draft that will be reviewed at the April 19 Board of Education meeting so that a final document can be reviewed and approved at the special meeting on May 2.

MOTION: Moved by, seconded by, to adjourn at 7:48 p.m. Aye 6, Nay 0. The motion carried 6-0.
