• Health & Safety Fair, June 14th, 11:00 – 2:00, EMA Building
Departmental Incidents
• April claims
o NONE
• Year-to-Date 10 Workers’ Compensation claims vs. 22 Workers’ Compensation claims last year same time. Frequency is much lower, however severity is much higher.
Training
• DDC4 (Defensive Driver) is being offered May 17, 8:00 – 12:00 or May 18 12:30 – 4:30.
Monthly Safety Topic
• Ergonomics - the science of fitting a job to the worker performing that job.
o Ergonomic hazards include repetitive stress injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). o The goal of ergonomics is to reduce a worker’s exposure to MSD risk factors by changing the design of a workstation or the way a job is performed, allowing workers to rotate through different jobs, or providing personal protective equipment (PPE)
New Business
• Emergency Procedures: Tornadoes – Updated Policy
• Next meeting is scheduled for June 7th, Room 250 at 2:30
