Village of Tonica Board of Trustees met March 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting was called to order by President Kevin Sluder at 7:00 p.m., Monday February 20, 2017. Responding to roll call were Bob Steele, Mike Supan Jr., Heather Sherman, Dave Wiesbrock, Jessica Bonnell, Monica Kreiser, Bob Folty, Dennis Ford and Ron Sons. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Gave the village an estimate on fixing the tennis courts and explained the TitanTrax System that would cost around $56,000.

Village Clerk Report - Heather Sherman

 The minutes of February’s meeting were presented and approved. A motion was made by Dave Wiesbrock and 2nd by Dennis Ford.

 Water bills were just sent out.

 La Salle County board minutes are available to board members who request them.

Treasurer Report - Jessica Bonnell

 Monthly bills were presented and approved to pay. A motion was made by Dennis Ford and 2nd by Monica Kreiser.

Police Report - Dave Woolford

 Monthly Report-7 speeding citations, 4 stop sign citations, 2 uninsured vehicle citations.

 Acquired a new laptop from La Salle County Police Dept, which is an upgrade for the village free of charge.

 Radar needs a burnt wire fixed.

Water & Sewer/Streets & Alley Report - Marc Lemrise

 AWSS hauled away sludge to the City of Ottawa. There was less sludge than initially estimated so the bill was $2,000 less.

The City of Ottawa let the village transport the sludge to their facility free of charge.

 Some minor ditch work was done on Wauponis St. due to water on the sidewalk.

 Derek will be back to work on Monday.

Engineer’s Report - Jack Kusek

 A motion was made by Mike Supan Jr. and 2nd by Ron Sons to pay a bill submitted by Vissering Construction in the amount of $382,764.69 for the new water treatment plant.

 The new water treatment plant is 61% complete.

Attorney’s Report - Robert Steele

 Ace Auto Salvage owner Mitch Urban pled guilty to ordinance violations.

Trustees Comments & Complaints

 Bid out mowing for the village or buy a mower? The board decided to do both. Mowing bids are due April 17th by 10:30 am. and estimates for buying a mower will also be reviewed at the next board meeting.

 A motion was made by Monica Kreiser and 2nd by Dave Wiesbrock to donate $50 to American Red Cross and Starved Rock Special Olympics.

 Several big shade trees along La Salle St. are dead or dying. The owner of the property Bob Goskusky wanted the village to be aware he will be removing them and planting new trees.

A motion was made by Ron Sons and 2nd by Dave Wiesbrock to adjourn meeting at 8:45 p.m.
