City of Peru Public Services Committee met May 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee Members Present: Alderman Waldorf Chairman, Alderman Jeff Ballard

Absent: Mayor Harl, Alderman Jim Lukosus, Alderman Mike Sapienza.

Other Persons Present: PSM Jeff King, City Engineer Eric Carls, Code Enforcement Officer Josh Theisinger, City Clerk Dave Bartley, Electric Department General Foreman Kye Kaszynski, Alderman Ferrari, Mike Perry of Chamlin & Associates, Chris Perra of T.E.S.T., Ben Hohenstatt of News Tribune and Ashley Kostos.

Minutes:

Approval of the 5/8/17 PSM minutes is tabled until the next meeting.

Presentation:

Adam Chapman of Flint Hills Resources, accompanied by Lacy Mills and John Gratch also of FHR, provided a presentation of information pertaining to a feasibility study to be done. The purpose of the study is to gather data and develop cost estimates for future equipment installation to the East Waste Water Treatment Plant. Chamlin & Associates will be performing the study at no cost to the City. The study will study will help to determine if the City and FHR can collaborate and benefit from the sludge-dewatering equipment. Chairman Waldorf agreed it would be ok for FHR to continue with the study.

Chairman Waldorf reported the TBM Avenger Reunion had a great turnout, despite the rain. He added there were great airplanes and they were still able to fly.

Cemetery:

City Engineer Eric Carls reported authorization needs to take place for marble work to be completed on the remaining three wings of the mausoleum. The Electric Department will be notified when they will be needed.

Parks & Recreation:

Engineer Carls informed the lowest bidder for the McKinley Park Concession/Restroom project was H&H Builders of Mendota, with a bid of $148,935.00. Carls recommends going forward with the project, which will include value engineering. Awarding of the project will be placed on the agenda for the next City Council meeting.

Code Enforcement/ Building & Zoning:

Code Enforcement Officer Josh Theisinger reported there have been a lot of issues with residents leaving grass in the streets; he leaves a hanger on the door as an initial warning.

Engineering:

City Engineer Eric Carls provided the following project updates:

•2017 General Fund- milling of streets estimated to take place Thursday and Friday this week and paving next week, weather permitting.

•Peoria St. Phase 2- Work began today; traffic control was modified to keep areas some open to traffic.

•Plank Road- The finish grading for Commerce Drive is done; paving to be done this week, weather permitting.

•Splash Pad- Contract 1 work is almost complete for the first portion. The future pool site will be used as temporary parking due to high traffic at this time.

PSM Jeff King said he is waiting to discuss rental registration program update at Committee of a Whole.

Chairman Waldorf made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Alderman Ballard seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
