LaSalle-Peru taking on new foes on gridiron this fall

Fallfootball

The LaSalle-Peru High School (L-P) football team will see some new faces this fall after the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) made some changes to the 2017-18 schedule, according to the News Tribune.

The Cavaliers will play different teams in their non-conference schedule, beginning with their first opponent, Park Forrest's Rich East High School (REHS), on Saturday, Aug. 26. The Rockets went 4-5 last year.

L-P will then play Limestone Community High School before taking on the United Township High School Panthers in East Moline, a familiar team that the Cavaliers have owned in all nine games they have played since 2006. The Cavaliers beat the Panthers 42-6 in a game last year.

Other schools making schedule changes include Monmouth-Roseville High School, which is joining the Three Rivers Conference, taking the place of Amboy-LaMoille High School, which will play in the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference Northwest Division.
