4. Action as a Result of Executive Session

With regard to the Superintendent’s request to Bar Student A from riding Lostant school buses for a period of two years, the Board of Education finds as follows:

1. The individual, a student at Fieldcrest School District whose home District is Lostant is found to have engaged in gross misconduct. Specifically, the individual made obscene and threatening statements to the Lostant Superintendent and prevented her from leaving the Superintendent’s office for a period of time. In light of such behavior such removal from the District school buses is in the best interest of the District, as the individual’s continued use of the school buses would pose a threat to the safety of students, staff, and members of the school community.

2. The individual’s behavior has disrupted the learning environment and has threatened the safety of students and staff. Based upon the matters discussed in a hearing on this matter, the Board determines that no other appropriate and available disciplinary interventions regarding transportation are available, and there are no other appropriate and available support services that can be provided to the individual by the Lostant District.

3. The Board finds that Student A will be barred from riding Lostant School busses until the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

A motion by Skinner and seconded by Burcar to suspend Student A from Lostant CUSD 425 transportation services until the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Roll call, 7-0, Motions passes.
