Spring Valley makes golf challenge cheap but not easy

Golfers looking for a fun summer challenge that still leaves a little green in their wallets don’t have to go any farther that Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley.

Spring Creek is an 18-hole course steeped in tradition that offers long fairways with thick grass and is heavily lined by trees to give a championship-level feel. Deep wooded areas and several water hazards lie throughout, and it even offers a “Hail Mary Corner,” a stretch along holes 12, 13, 14 and 15 with plenty of open space and challenges that provide big rewards or dramatic failures. 

Hole No. 12 named the “toughest hole in Spring Valley.”

Not only does Spring Creek provide golfers of all skill types a challenge, it is also centrally located for those traveling from Chicago, Joliet, Rockford, Peoria and the Quad Cities. 

The course offers a flat, all-day fee. Walking golfers pay $13 for nine holes during the week and $14 dollars on the weekend. For 18 holes, the cost is $21 during the week and $24 on the weekend. Those looking to rent a golf cart will have to pony up $21-22 for nine holes and $37-40 for 18 holes. 

The club also offers memberships for individuals and families at $560 and $780, respectively, while junior college and university students pay anywhere from $120 to $275.
