Village of Wyanet Board of Trustees met June 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Village President Bruce Hand called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Following the pledge of allegiance roll call was answered by Hand, Bickett, Etheridge, Peterson and Spears. Johnson and Law were absent.

Bryce Conrad representing NCICG was present to explain the Rural Sidewalk Assessment Program. They will be in town on July 25th and 26th to evaluate the village sidewalks.

Chief Marquez presented his monthly activity report. It will take about 2 1⁄2 weeks for Justin to get lights hooked up on the new squad car. With Adam working during the festival, Chief does not feel any additional help will be needed. He would like to consult with the attorney about writing a ordinance to deal with a new under 10 grams law for cannabis.

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Etheridge to approve purchase of lights for the new car from Uniform Den for approximately $800.00. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Etheridge to develop an ordinance with the attorneys help to address the new under 10 grams of cannabis law. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

The maintenance department has repaired a leak in the water plant, filled holes at the cemetery, leveled graves, put a new light on the flag at the cemetery, removed recent storm damage debris, repaired asphalt at the intersection at Walnut St. and Third St. They also, worked on landscaping the concession stand sidewalk area with the help of Bruce Hand.

A motion was made by Etheridge and seconded by Bickett to approve the consent agenda with the addition of a bill to Gahl’s in the amount of $485.20. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

Committee Reports:

Cemetery & Parks – the committee would like to have garbage picked up twice a week at the ball diamonds.

Building & Equipment – Chief Marquez would like the cars to have gray lettering. Chief and the committee will make the decision concerning where to have it done.

Streets & Sidewalks – visability has become an issue on the North East corner of Main and Locust St.

A motion was made by Peterson and seconded by Etheridge to add one more NO parking space on the North East corner at the intersection of Main and Locust. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

Chief Marquez will speak with the business owner before painting the new space. Personnel – the village will be accepting applications for full time maintenance worker for the next two weeks.

Old Business :

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Etheridge to approve Appropriation Ordinance #O-1-17-6-13. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

New Business:

A Motion was made to approve the Prevailing Wage Resolution # R-3-17-6-13. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Peterson to approve the bid from Pavement Maintenance Services in the amount of $23,381.54 for the 2017 street repair program. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

A motion was made by Spears and seconded by Bickett to approve Resolution #R-4-17-6-13 to participate in the Rural Sidewalk Assessment Program through NCICG. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Johnson and Law were absent.

Village President Hand wanted to remind residents that fire works are illegal and the Chief will be issuing citations for violations. He would like to see a meeting between representatives from the board and the community club to prepare for the festival.

A motion was made by Etheridge and seconded by Bickett to adjourn the meeting at 8:18 p.m. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Johnson and Law were absent.
