Walmart Peru has opened a Walmart Academy as part of the retail giant's efforts to establish more than 200 such academies throughout the country, according to the Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development.
Walmart academies train sales associates in the retailer’s "One Best Way," providing them with classroom and sales floor training. The academies cover general retail principles in its core classes and material specific to different specialties in area specific classes.
Walmart said it hopes that the training provided at the new Peru Walmart Academy and the others throughout the country will help achieve greater employee retention and promotion.
