The Putnam County Food Pantry is counting on the generosity of residents to support its annual Christmas Basket Project.
The project benefits families in need with food and gifts for the holiday. This year, 100 families in need have requested a basket that will include a full Christmas dinner, as well as breakfast and pizza for Christmas Eve. Gifts for children and senior citizens are also provided.
Recipients will receive their baskets the morning of Saturday, Dec. 16.
The project it has undertaken for the past 30 years in conjunction with county churches, schools, businesses and organizations and Toys in the Pantry, according to a news release.
To meet the demand, cash and food donations are needed from the community.
A $75 cash donation will pay for the the food for an average-size family.
Food donations needed include canned fruit, hot chocolate and other drinks, gelatin, easy-to-prepare meals and personal care items.
Cash donations may be deposited at the Granville National Bank or sent to the Putnam County Food Pantry at P.O. Box 96, Granville.
Food can be delivered to the food pantry or left at any Putnam County bank.
