Rutland Township Community Consolidated School District 230 Board of Education met Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Call to order- The meeting was called to order by Board President, Amy Jimenez at 6:01.

Roll call-John Jones, Amy Jimenez, Linda Backos, Brittany Edgcomb, Megan Maynard, Jason Hermann, and Rod Brady

Approval of minutes-Rod Brady made a motion to approve the minutes. John Jones seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

Visitors: Arch Hopkins from Hopkins and Associates, Dan Macias, Lori Buinickas, Lisa Dunn (departs at 6:04), Crystal Green (departs at 6:04), Lindsay Middleton (departs at 6:04), Kaylin Middleton (departs at 6:04), and Trever Green (departs at 6:04)

Student of the Month- Trever Green and Kaylin Middleton were presented Student of the Quarter award

Auditors- Hopkins and Associates handed out the audit report and explained the overall rating of 4.0.

Treasurer’s Report- John Jones made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Jason Hermann seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

Payment of bills- Linda Backos made a motion for the payment of bills. Brittany Edgcomb seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence- None

Destroy closed session audio recordings for meetings prior to April 2014.

Administrative reports

Superintendent

A. Budget Updates- Mike Matteson passed out an article about the change in CPPRT. Investments earned 1.24% last month. October’s expenditures look to be down 6.5%. For the year to date expenditures are up 3.1%.

B. Goal Setting Review- Mike Matteson passed out a summary of the goal setting meeting.

C. School Board Convention-Mike Matteson discussed where we will be eating dinner at on Friday night for the convention.

E. Building updates- Dan Macias created shelving in the boys locker room to help with a storage problem.

F. Snow removal –Brian Wilson turned in their bid for snow removal.

G. 2017 Levy 2018 Tax Extension preliminary estimate- Mike Matteson included the estimated levy request.

H. Second Reading Policies: 2.20E. 2.210, 2.220 E3, 2.260, 4.60E, 4.70, 6.8, 6.180, 6.210, 6.290, 6.330, 7.80, 7.160, 7.275, 8.20E, 8.70

J. Other-None

Principal

A. In-services- Oct., 31 the teachers will learn about Moby Max.

B. Halloween- The parade will be at 10:45 Oct. 31.

C. Guest Lunch Week- Guest lunch week starts next week.

A. Set levy hearing date-John Jones made a motion to set the levy hearing date for Dec. 21. Rod Brady seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

B. Approve a snow removal service- Brittany Edgcomb made a motion to use Brian Wilson. Megan Maynard seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

C. Approve salary and compensation report- Rod Brady made a motion to approve the salary and compensation report. Brittany Edgcombe seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

D. Approve staff health insurance plan- John Jones made a motion to accept the changes to the staff’s health insurance plan as presented. Rod Brady seconded it the motion passed unanimously.

Approve second reading policies-Jason Hermann made a motion to approve the second readings. Jason Hermann seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

Executive session: Discussion of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) ; Discussion of a student disciplinary case. 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(10). –Linda Backos made a motion to go into executive session at 6:53. Rod Brady seconded it. The motion passed unanimously. John Jones made a motion to come out of executive session at 7:08. Brittany Edgcomb seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.

Adjourn- John Jones made a motion to adjourn at 7:08. Rod Brady seconded it. The motion passed unanimously.
