Plasticchristmastree

With Christmas over, Christmas trees will need disposing;and the city of Ottawa again will provide a way for residents to do that for free.

Commissioner of Public Improvements James Less said in a release on the city's website that Ottawa residents should remove lights and decorations from their trees before taking them to the parking lot of the Riordan pool durin g daytime hours from Saturday, Jan. 6, through Saturday, Jan. 13. There will be an area in the lot specifically for dropped-off trees.

To get to the parking lot, residents should go a block north of the 600 block of East Norris Drive. The lot is located on Utica Drive.

Residents who want to have mulch also can have chipping services done on site. Staff will do the mulching as needed during business hours, and bags for mulch collection will be provided. There also is no charge for the chipping service.
