Edgar County Watchdogs alleges Bruce Township erred on meeting notice

Meeting8213

The Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW) issued a public statement about the Bruce Township supervisor alleging township leadership failed to inform the public about a local meeting as required by law.

“The Bruce Township supervisor appears to be ignoring the Attorney General Public Access Counselors Office regarding our allegation they held a meeting without proper posting to inform the public,” ECW said. “The request for review stems from the letter they sent the media that appears to have been discussed and crafted outside a public meeting.”

Freedom of information laws allow public access to information. Governmental proceedings generally fall under this legal purview with the exception of the judiciary that often has its own regulatory or constitutional guidelines.
