City of Peru Planning/Zoning Commission met Jan. 31.

Here is the agenda provided by the Commission:

Plan Commission Chairman, Doug Biederstedt, called the Planning/Zoning Commission to order at 6:00 pm. Roll call was taken of the Planning/Zoning Commission and Members Atkinson, Biederstedt, Grabowski, Lucas, Miller, Kalsto and Janko-Wilke were all present. Special City Attorney, Herb Klein then read the Notice of Public Hearing which was published in the News-Tribune on October 9, 2017, in accordance with Illinois law. Notice was mailed to all City of Peru officials as well as to the Petitioner.

The filed Petition was admitted as Petitioner Exhibit No. 1. A copy of the publication was admitted into evidence as Exhibit No. 2. The original Final Plat of the subdivision was admitted as Exhibit 3.

Petitioner Roelif Loveland was sworn. Petitioner testified that he was seeking this Petition in order to add additional property to his rear yard. He indicated that he owns dogs and this would create a natural buffer if further development occurred in the subdivision. He indicated that he acquired about 1.5 acres in 2012 and that the City approved a similar Petition at that time. This property is approximately.433 acres. Atty. Schweickert, representing the Petitioner, displayed the Plat and showed the Members the layout of the Petitioner’s home and those rear lots.

In response to Chairman Biederstedt questioning, Petitioner indicated that he was agreeable that the contiguous property owners would be responsible for any future infrastructural roadway improvements if Cleveland Street was extended to the north. This was also contained in the 2012 approval ordinance.

Chair Biederstedt noted that no objectors were present at the hearing.

Member Grabowski made a Motion to approve the Petition, and it was seconded by Member Janko-Wilke. It passed unanimously.

Member Biederstedt made a Motion to close the Public Hearing and adjourn, seconded by member Atkinson. It passed unanimously, and the hearing closed at 6:15 pm.
