City of Peru Finance and Safety Services Committee met Jan. 31.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Aldermen Potthoff, Ferrari and Payton present; Alderman Radtke arrived at 4:40 p.m.; Mayor Harl present.

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: City Clerk Dave Bartley, Alderman Sapienza, ASM/Police Chief Doug Bernabei, PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King, Finance Officer Justin Miller, Economic Development Director Bob Vickrey, Jim Pozzi of Republic Services

MATTERS DISCUSSED

Alderman Potthoff made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 17, 2018 Finance & Safety Services Meeting. Alderman Payton seconded the motion; motion carried.

The Committee reviewed and approved the disbursements for payment on February 7, 2018.

PRESENTATION

OLD BUSINESS

Alderman Potthoff initiated a discussion regarding scavenger contract. Mr. Jim Pozzi of Republic Services stated cart sizes are 95-gallon, 64-gallon and 35-gallon and residents can request smaller carts if need. Alderman Sapienza asked for options for pricing on 64-gallon carts only. Alderman Potthoff asked for further discussion and noted residents currently pay $12.00 for landfill and garbage.

ÿ Discussion-available candidate-IVCC recommended-Committee approved.

Committee discussed systems study for 138 interconnect. City Engineer Eric Carls stated he will research the process with Ameren and take a proactive approach for further economic development.

ASM/Police Chief Doug Bernabei initiated a discussion regarding the policy for employee continuing education.
