A regular meeting of the La Salle City Council of La Salle, Illinois was held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Pro-Tem James Demes presiding in the absence of Mayor Jeff Grove with proper notice being duly and continuously posted.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ROLL CALL Present- Alderman Demes, Reynolds, Lavieri, Duncan, Herndon, Schneider Absent: Mayor Grove, Alderman Ptak, Alderman Bacidore A quorum was present.
Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to appoint Alderman James Demes as Mayor Pro-Tem in the absence of Mayor Jeff Grove for the duration of the meeting. PROCLAMATION Moved by Alderman Schneider and seconded by Alderman Lavieri to proclaim April 5, 2018 as Junior Achievement Day. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
PETITIONS Moved by Alderman Duncan and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to grant the requests of La Salle County Court Appointed Advocates (CASA) and Trinity Catholic Academy for 2018 Raffle Licenses. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Moved by Alderman Duncan and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to grant the request of Ameren Illinois to break ground at 1st and Tonti Streets to repair a bad ug electric. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Herndon to accept the recommendation of the Finance Committee and deny the request for a monetary donation to the LP End Zone Club. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Moved by Alderman Duncan and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to grant the request of the Illinois Valley Alzheimer’s Group to hold the 11th Annual Boo Milby Memory 5K Race/Walk on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS Moved by Alderman Herndon and seconded by Alderman Lavieri to accept and place on file the Building Inspector’s Report for February 2018 showing total fees collected of $600 and total value of construction of $60,000. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to accept and place on file a thank you note from the family of James Rick, deceased Mayor of Naplate. Each and every alderman has a copy. Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES Moved by Alderman Schneider and seconded by Alderman Duncan to approve the Klein, Thorpe and Jenkins engagement letter involving the Shared Services Committee with conflicts waiver and consent, billing rates and expense schedule for legal work of multi-jurisdiction shared police services project for City of La Salle, City of Peru, City of Oglesby and City of Spring Valley, and authorize the Mayor to sign the applicable conflict waivers on behalf of the City of La Salle.
