Analysis: Ottawa pays $5.51 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Ottawa Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.6 percent of the $1,145,544 the Ottawa Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.51 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Ottawa contributed $969,642 to the fund, which saw a $17,120 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $175,902, or 15.4 percent, in 2016.
