Analysis: Streator pays $6.49 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Streator Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.6 percent of the $659,816 the Streator Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.49 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Streator contributed $571,726 to the fund, which saw a $44,148 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $88,090, or 13.4 percent, in 2016.
