Report: Tonica spent $10,953 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Tonica Community Consolidated School District 79 is up 14 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lasalle County school district spent $9,595 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,953 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 217 to 200.

Tonica's spending in 2016-17 was 16 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
