Report: Mendota spent $8,452 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Mendota Community Consolidated School District 289 is up 10 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lasalle County school district spent $7,704 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,452 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1234 to 1191.

Mendota's spending in 2016-17 was 35 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
