Report: Seneca spent $15,186 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Seneca Community Consolidated School District 170 is up 12 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lasalle County school district spent $13,511 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $15,186 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 492 to 486.

Seneca's spending in 2016-17 was 17 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
