Report: Serena spent $14,057 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Serena Community Unit School District 2 is up 17 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Lasalle County school district spent $12,064 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $14,057 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 784 to 652.

Serena's spending in 2016-17 was 8 percent higher than the state average of $12,973.
