Report: Spring Valley spent $8,474 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Spring Valley Community Consolidated School District 99 is up 6 percent from five years ago, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Bureau County school district spent $8,010 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,474 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 781 to 675.

Spring Valley's spending in 2016-17 was 35 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
